Couture royalty, we date this Valentino runway ensemble to 1968-1970. As the decade reached its end, the introduction of more playful, organic shapes in textile patterns were apparent. In swirling strokes of orange, Valentino decorated this wool jacket and matching silk crepe dress.
Cropped to the hip, the jacket has the crisp recognisable silhouette of the 60s: clean, simple and chic. Possibly chopped as a last minute decision before graving the runway, the inside hem remains raw and hand finished.
The dress takes a step towards the 70s. With impeccable pin tucks across the entire piece, she funnels in a figure-hugging trumpet shape, flaring out at the skirt hem and sleeve cuffs.
