A September Summer

It seems the long awaited summer finally made an unexpected appearance as September dawned.

Just as we were readying our favourite tweeds, velvets and woollen layers, a final hurrah for the summer wardrobe has offered itself.

Is September the new August? With kids back to school and the chaos of summer holidays put to bed, an encore of warmth and the last glimmer of long evenings to hold onto. The nights feel cooler, the daylight starting to dwindle sooner than expected, but the days can still be celebrated as the final beats of summer…

So this month marks our closing number on summer frocks as we prepare for a seasonal change into the next chapter. Selecting pieces that, through clever styling, can be worn through heatwaves and hailstorms was a challenge we couldn’t resist.

1940s tea dresses thrown on with sandals and sunnies, or paired with stockings and sweaters are a failsafe in every woman’s wardrobe.

1970s punches of vibrant pattern in fabrics from light chiffons and organzas right up to cosy wool maxi dresses to cover any occasion

Translucent textiles that can be layered over thermals, slips or nothing at all… for whatever the weather, they add texture and depth for playful styling.

On the turn of a sixpence, Autumn will be upon us. Let’s make the most of every sunbeam we get before we delve into all things winter warm and wooly!
